About the product

Our Customers

TargetCool, an innovative medical device from Korea, has been introduced to the US market by RecensMedical. Our primary customers are clinics and nurses providing aesthetic services such as Botox, fillers, PRP, and more. These professionals aim to offer the best service to their clients while maximizing their own revenue and efficiency. Additionally, we cater to clients seeking high-quality, comfortable aesthetic treatments without the pain and bruising typically associated with injections.

Their Problems

-Clinics and nurses face several challenges:
-Effectively presenting and enhancing brand recognition to attract more clients.
-Increasing revenue through the provision of various aesthetic services.
-Enhancing client comfort during procedures, which can be a significant factor in client satisfaction and retention.
-Improving the speed of services to accommodate more clients per day, thereby increasing overall profitability.

Clients also face their own set of issues:

-Ensuring the quality of the provided service.
-Receiving treatments that are comfortable, minimizing pain and bruising, which allows them to return to their regular lifestyle immediately.

Constraints
I joined RecensMedical/CoolHealth at the very beginning of its life (employee 10). Velocity was the lifeblood of the business; we needed high-conviction design artifacts produced every single day. Our mantra was to understand quickly, ship needed functionality, and iterate relentlessly.

My Role
As the Sr UI&UX Designer / Product Designer, my responsibilities were broad and intertwined in every portion of our operations. I served as researcher, brand designer, UX designer, UI designer, and front-end developer. My role was to ensure that the redesign of our business website effectively presented TargetCool to our US market, showcasing its value to both providers and clients. Through well-organized information, site structure, and presented videos, I worked to enhance brand recognition, increase revenue for services, and improve client comfort and service speed, ultimately contributing to the profitability and success of our customers.

RecensMedical has successfully introduced TargetCool to the US market, and we are excited to announce that new innovative devices will be released soon, continuing our commitment to enhancing the aesthetic treatment experience for both providers and clients.

I used research to build a deep understanding of our customers & inform product decisions.

-Conducted 1:1 qualitative research sessions with clinics and nurses to create a ground truth by which to guide product decisions for TargetCool.

-Aided our head of growth in the formulation of quantitative studies to better understand our market and larger customer trends in the aesthetic services industry.

-Conducted synchronous and asynchronous usability tests on our website interface touchpoints.

-Met with users to understand how TargetCool fit into their practice and guided iterations of our offering based on their feedback.

-Ran workshops with our founding team to shape our company and product thinking, ensuring alignment with our customers' needs and market demands.

Built foundational artifacts to give our team insight into the experiences, responsibilities, and needs of our customers, both providers and clients.

Other tasks in the product

-Enhancing our brand book and refining the tone of voice to create a more cohesive and recognizable brand identity.

-Creating presentation materials for conferences to attract new buyers, including presentations, social media marketing content, print materials, and landing pages for promotions.

-Working within tight timelines to efficiently design business-oriented components, ensuring high-quality deliverables under pressure.

Challenges faced and their solutions

problem #1

Unfortunately, due to the device being something new for the US market, the old website had significant issues with structure and information, failing to convey the business value effectively.

solution

Through testing / interviews with providers and nurses / competitor research, and numerous prototypes, I gathered insights on how to better present the product on the website. I restructured the information, improved the site's layout, refined the menu, and enhanced the UI, resulting in a 20% increase in brand recognition and trust.

problem #2

Midway through the project, it became evident that the company would introduce new products to the US market in the future, contrary to the initial focus on a single device.  The project was initially designed around the assumption of a single device.

solution

Thanks to the comprehensive UX preparations (texts, researches, and other materials) and the UI kit/Design System I developed, I efficiently adapted the website structure to accommodate the anticipated introduction of new products. This strategic adjustment allowed for the seamless inclusion of future product offerings from the brand within tight timelines.

Some Process

Competitor research

Detailed Chart with Strengths + Weaknesses

Through a thorough analysis of competitors, we were able to identify best practices in the industry, strategically navigate around weaknesses, and define a distinctive style. This insightful analysis not only helped us steer clear of pitfalls but also enabled us to establish a unique presence among competitors through thoughtful design choices.

User Flow

Leveraging the best practices uncovered during the research, I seamlessly incorporated them into the user flow design. This approach ensured a streamlined and user-friendly experience that aligns with industry standards, setting the foundation for an intuitive and engaging interaction with our website.

Style Guide

In addition to user flows, I designed the project's style guide, which proved invaluable as it established a cohesive design theme to maintain consistency and uphold brand identity.

Wireframing and Prototyping step

Using Figma, I created Low-Fi and High- Fi Wireframes to translate what the user will experience when navigating through the website. Designing these wireframes reassured me on which UX/UI elements were needed to ensure a smooth process for the user. The wireframes also gave us a clear understanding of how much space each element would take, such as CTA buttons, images, and text boxes.

The Photography Style

I curated the choice of style for the photographs to best reflect the innovation and prestige of the product. The selected style aimed to evoke a sense of desire for the product, compelling individuals to envision themselves possessing it. The photographs were meticulously crafted to instill a compelling need for the product and a heightened eagerness to embrace its features.

Print Materials

As a designer, my role also involved crafting standout print materials that became pivotal tools for effectively representing the brand at conferences. The development of professional brochures, pamphlets, and promotional materials not only underscored the brand's corporate identity but also ensured a memorable impact on event attendees. Ultimately, these high-quality print materials played a key role in establishing long-term connections with clients, setting the brand apart from competitors.

In my capacity as a designer, my goal was to create not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional print materials that could efficiently support the brand at conferences. The combination of professionalism and visual appeal in brochures and promotional materials created a compelling visual impact, enhancing brand recognition and highlighting its superiority among the numerous conference participants.
